Getting Around Jeju Island: Transport Guide
A rental car is strongly recommended in Jeju — the crater, beaches, lava tubes and waterfalls ring the island’s 180km coast and public buses are slow and infrequent. You’ll need an International Driving Permit. If you won’t drive, base in Jeju City and use day tours or the coastal buses for the main sights.
Arriving in Jeju Island
Nearest airport: Jeju International Airport (CJU), in Jeju City on the north coast
CJU is in Jeju City itself — a taxi to downtown is ₩5,000–10,000 (10 minutes), and city buses cover the island. Most visitors pick up a rental car at the airport to circle the coast.
