Why visit Uluwatu

Uluwatu crowns the limestone cliffs of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula: a 1,000-year-old sea temple where a Kecak fire dance plays out at sunset, legendary surf breaks like Uluwatu and Padang Padang below, and hidden white-sand coves reached by steep staircases. It is Bali at its most dramatic — raw cliffs, blue water and a slower rhythm than the south.

When to visit Uluwatu

Uluwatu shines in the dry season (April–October): clean surf, blue water and golden sunsets. The wet season (November–March) brings afternoon storms and onshore winds, but empty cliffs and villa deals.

July–August and Christmas–New Year are Uluwatu’s peaks — clifftop villas and the Kecak show book out ahead. The dry-season trade winds make the famous left-hand breaks most consistent from May to September; wet-season surf is often better at dawn before the wind rises.
