Why visit Da Nang
Da Nang is Vietnam’s most liveable beach city: a 30-kilometre sweep of sand at My Khe, the Marble Mountains rising behind it, and the Golden Bridge held aloft by two giant stone hands in the Ba Na Hills. At weekends the Dragon Bridge breathes real fire, and the lantern-lit Ancient Town of Hoi An is 30 minutes down the coast.
When to visit Da Nang
Da Nang’s sweet spot is February to May — dry, sunny and warm before the summer heat. The central-Vietnam typhoon and flood season runs September to November and can be severe.
Central Vietnam’s typhoon and flood season peaks in October and November — Da Nang and nearby Hoi An can flood. The Golden Bridge is often in cloud; go on the first dawn cable car for the best chance of a clear view. Read the full month-by-month guide to the best time to visit Da Nang.
