Getting Around Malacca: Transport Guide

From Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, take a bus from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) to Melaka Sentral — they run every 30 minutes, take about 2 hours and cost RM10–20. From KLIA airport, direct buses take 2.5 hours. From Melaka Sentral, Grab to the Old Town is 10 minutes (RM8–12).

Arriving in Malacca

Nearest airport: Kuala Lumpur International (KUL) is the main gateway — Malacca’s own airport (MKZ) has very limited flights

From KLIA, a direct bus to Melaka Sentral takes about 2.5 hours (RM25–35); from central KL, buses from TBS run every 30 minutes (2 hours, RM10–20). From Singapore it’s about 4 hours by bus.

Getting around Malacca

  • The UNESCO centre is walkable — every major sight is within 15 minutes on foot
  • Grab is cheap and everywhere for trips to Melaka Sentral or the outskirts
  • Colourful trishaws offer short tourist rides (agree the fare first, ~RM40/hour)
